I'm painting a new picture
A picture I hope will capture,
A fresh page in my history
A new chapter to my story
I'll use red, green and blue
And I'll paint a portrait for you
And I hope one day you'll see
The real person inside of me
I'm not trying to hide
I'm not saying I'm right
All I ask is that you try,
To see beyond the lie
Don't wash me away
Give me another day
You might just take me in
You might just start to grin
So look closely now
You might not know how,
To judge this piece of art
Don't. Just view it with your heart
What do you see?
Is it really what you want it to be?
A heart being set free?
Or a picture of you and me?
